THE TRUE ESSENCE OF LIFE

We breathe the same air as our enemies;
We are linked to our foes as to our friends.
We laugh and we cry and share amenities,
And on the same things in life we depend.
We are driven by competition and aspirations,
All part of nature we struggle to survive,
Free will is not part of the intentions,
Like all animals we compete to stay alive.
We defy Mother Nature but we cannot win,
Losing sight of our true role in life,
Lost in the bleak sounds of our own din,
Love becoming the stain on the knife.
We can’t draw back from our destiny,
Of destroying the true essence of life.
