THE ABSENT TUTOR

To whom will I be speaking
When I seek the Lord’s advice
If not my own mind seeking
To think much more precise?
I ask the Lord to teach me
What I already know,
For what resides inside me,
The pass of time doth sow.
So who is this strange maker;
This ghost with whom I talk;
My helper or forsaker
On whom my thoughts bestow?
The reason I am thinking
I know less than I know.
