SPITE: THE SWORD OF THE JEALOUS

Some folk know not of the topic you express,
Yet once expressed, claim to know it all,
For none do wish a knowledge that is less,
Than one they rate as not yet quite as tall.
Who does not fit the image they require,
To inflate importance of unimportant thought,
Will never be accepted in their quire,
Lest they expose the defects of their resort.
‘Tis sometimes sad to note successful men,
Are but deprivers of another’s fame,
Who reap reward with a lesser pen,
In order to destroy a better claim.
‘Tis oft they rob the public of a voice,
By cutting off the vocal cord of choice.
