SPEAK NOT FOR OTHERS

Speak not for others who have tongues to speak,
They need no approval lest tis what they seek.
For each has legs on which to proudly stand,
If not legs they have strength in either hand.
Who states the rule knowing not the rule himself,
As though ‘twas just delivered to the shelf,
Might seek attention or some other gain,
That may not be there if he chose refrain.
Oft lonely folk take strides beyond their step,
That some with practice become then quite adept.
But mostly they are folks with kindly hearts
That by their acts, self-consciousness departs.
I sometimes try to steer them far away
From making castles out of trodden clay.
