SOMETIMES
Sometimes we wonder why we are not greeted,
That doubting think that we have caused offence,
Though we might turn away and feel cheated,
Tis often that the other is distraught and tense.
We should not be selfish; quick to blame the other,
But provide ourselves the greeting that was amiss,
The true reason oft in these terms we discover,
That we then part with a handshake or a kiss.
Assume not what the other folk are thinking,
For assumption is most often incorrect,
That you may find a friendship that is shrinking,
All due to improper thought and intellect.
Put forth the smile, for mostly it will win,
Inspiring some recognition from her or him.
