SEPARATION

Does he not know the greatness of his father
And what a gentleman that man is…
It will come to pass he’ll want to discover
The man he will one day miss
Though he will often return to his mother,
For the love that is more easily shown,
He’ll not swap his dad for another;
He’ll be disturbed when to adulthood he’s grown.
What does a boy know of such heartbreak,
That severs the connection of those he loves,
When he’s the centre of such a mistake,
He will see devils where there are Doves.
That is the tragedy of thoughtless endeavour,
When differences are fought without gloves
