SADNESS

I do not fear sadness; for it is part of my life,
It does not leave me helpless it lingers not as strife,
Being sad is self rewarding knowing it is true,
The lie is when you hide it; keep it inside of you.
We all weep to acknowledge, that sadness is inside,
Who has not, at sometime, broken down and cried?
The longer one might live the more sadness he may feel,
I carry much of it with me as my manner might reveal
It does not deteriorate happiness, I still love my wife,
I have never thought to challenge my heart with a knife
It is just part of my experience something I accept,
For I am just a human being all frail and inept.
I stand at the bottom of the ladder where I’m proud to be,
For from here the clouds of heaven don’t block what I can see.
