PERHAPS
I cannot mend the legs of a cripple,
I cannot endure another’s pain.
I can’t give intelligence to the simple,
I cannot share another’s shame.
I cannot understand their troubles,
For none have ever been my own,
And those that are my bubbles,
Are mine to burst here all alone.
All I can do is say I care,
And hope that it is half enough,
For our thoughts we sure can share,
That maybe it’s not so tough,
When you know a friend is near,
Who loves you without fear
