PERCEPTION PERCEIVED
Honest words are written because they’re true,
not sacrificed for words considered nice,
personal perception determines the readers view,
for what they mean does not determine vice
Written words lack speech and thus lack tone,
thus should be read as they are written down,
tis the readers choice to make them all their own,
and choose to smile or to choose a frown.
How can a writer, to write the truer word
be manacled by the sensitivity of another?
Does not that make politeness so absurd,
that all it does is the real meaning smother?
Words said bluntly oft bluntly are received
and find offence where offence is perceived.

Author’s Note: Many words such as ‘love’ are indescribable due to the complexity of meanings. Just as complicated is ‘perception’, which is used to convey the existence of a different view of the same scene from minds of varying degrees of experience.
