MISCONCEPTIONS
~ 1 ~
I’m bound to look ‘pon stench and blood,
As something vile and far from good,
And raise my eyes to where you live,
And ask in truth who should forgive,
For thou art the Lord to whom we pray,
Who sees our misery every day,
Who made us all this very way,
For what you created we portray.
Yet being us, the who-we-are,
Defies the actions that you bar,
That we your workmanship thus honed,
Are your defects that you have cloned,
Thou art a tradesman who blames his mould,
For all the defects we behold.
~ 2 ~
That I have free will is second place
And wears a false deceptive face;
For none were born by their own choice,
None chose the language of their voice.
For some know still to be a slave,
Free will and choice they’ll ere but crave,
And some who struggle out of slime,
Have known no other way but crime.
Yet those born into happy homes,
With TV sets and mobile phones,
Think all is choice based on free will,
And sex is just to gain a thrill,
And that they own through private church,
An obscure God on lofty perch.
~ 3 ~
He who made that man made me,
With all the defects you can see,
That are controlled by enforced law,
Because what we are, we all abhor.
We love and hate as we see fit,
Exposed by those who lofty sit,
In places where their power is great,
That we in war can demonstrate.
Who then is evil, he or she?
Or the one who does not agree with thee,
That we can judge them lesser folk,
Because our anger they provoke,
Forgetting what we really are,
By scorning those who go to far.
~ 4 ~
Oh all of us so righteous now,
Can step right up and take a bow,
Now that we’ve learned by our mistakes,
Aware of the great effort that it takes.
People are people who search for gain,
Who suffer loss and suffer pain,
Born rich and poor and gay or mean,
Or fearless or yet vile; obscene,
Each and every one by God’s hand made,
If it serves your mind to accept his trade,
Or that indeed there is a God,
Who blames the sculptures from the sod,
For all the defects he did hone,
In mankind’s mind and flesh and bone.
