IGNORANCE

The constant pain, the suffering
That in your eyes I see,
From which you are not recovering,
Forms a sad despair in me.

I weep for thee my darling,
For what else can I do,
Because promises do nothing,
And prayers do naught for you.

None understand your anguish,
Nor how severe is your pain,
That none can stop nor banish
To give you hope again.

Folk dismiss what they can’t see,
Without a second thought,
That their ignorance angers me,
That my interest in them is short.

They see not our restrictions;
My duty in loving you,
That suffers no contradictions,
For to you I will be true.

It seems I have to tell them,
To go and take a leap,
For then and only then,
Are we left alone to weep.

So many fools; god bless them,
Who do not understand,
Why don’t they listen to what I tell them,
Then everything would be grand.

Author’s Note: Someone said “ignorance is bliss”, but only for the ignorant. But ignorance is often simple lack of understanding caused by indifference and disinterest and can cause much stress.
