IF I KNEW THE TRUTH

If I knew the truth
then I would the truth believe,
Because if it was the truth
it could not the truth deceive.
Believing something is the truth
does not make it so,
For it is not what we believe
it is what we really know.
We can hope and we can speculate
tell a ‘useful’ lie,
But as it was before our birth
it is after we die…
And that for what it’s worth;
is the truth and not a lie.
