HYPOCRITES

~ 1 ~

‘Tis those things forced upon my tender ear
That I do criticize without a thought of fear.
For the hypocrisy of religion bases claim
On all objections that they can defame.
The church must guard its mystery or must fail,
And hide the “truth” it teaches in detail,
For without its mystery it cannot base on fear,
Its creeds and doctrines that it defines unclear.
Can one who fears the Lord love him as well?
And in believing this is spared from Hell?
Love is not born in fear I must object,
Though from such threat indeed grows much respect.
Being forced to love in fear is not my way,
Thus in my mind all churches will decay.

~ 2 ~

Is belief in God based on love and trust,
Or do you believe because you think you must.
Do you believe your own truth to be true,
Or have you not found the soul that lives in you?
Of yourself, how much do you think you know?
Have you been subject to the tests that show
How much of what you think you are is true
According to your own self biased view?
We are so righteous behind our fortress gates,
And yet exposed are marred by ill mistakes.
Use not the words of God as your tools,
For those who do are hypocrites and fools,
Who know not of themselves enough to state,
That they know the destiny of another’s fate.
