HUMANITY PRESERVED
I am my God’s good creature stoutly made
With all the defects that such soul contains,
With parts in sunlight and with parts in shade,
A body made to suffer every pain.
I am the victim of my choiceness birth;
A portrait of my tutors and my sire.
I live as I am trained, somewhere on the Earth.
I’m filled with peace or I am filled with fire.
If I’m a Lion then a savage Lion I’ll be;
If a snake, on my belly will I crawl.
If I’m a bird I’ll balance in a tree.
If I am short then I will not be tall.
For all God’s creatures, though they kill and maim
Are born of mothers all the very same.
