FRIENDS: A NEGATIVE VIEW
Foolishly he thought a friend
was a man without deceit
judge not another by the man
who stands above your feet
none you trust, trust the same
as you would have them do
wisdom is a man gone lame
who thought a friendship true
loyalty, a fools frail breach
of subservience to himself
is but an idle theme to preach
and gathers little wealth
every trail he walked alone
he walked with wisdom’s care
in sharing trust with a friend
he walked into despair
