FEAR NOT YOURSELF
The torment of your envy lives in fear
that suffers sadness at another’s cheer.
Selfish thought denies the ailing heart,
that never will your pain from there depart.
Don’t measure pain with your own regret,
yet cast aside such folly and forget.
For the joy you seek from another’s face,
will bring to you a calmer kind of grace.
What in ourselves doth fester over time,
can through love of others soon decline
that joy can light your eyes with a smile,
behind which thoughts do wondrously compile,
the enrichment of a spirit deep in thee,
that will dear brothers forever set you free.
