EFFORT EXHAUSTED

Mark thee where thou hast thy first seed sown
That grew as me from boyhood to a man
Who has not through the normal process grown
Who sought alone to become who I now am
There was no teacher no guide to lead me on
No one to wipe the tears from my eye
I dwelt in fear in the shadow of the sun
Wondering why the Lord had passed me by
And yet through all the struggle and the pain
I pledged myself the truth I’d always speak
And that one day I’d find sweet love again
But found it when I’d lost the desire to seek
True to myself I gave all I could spare
That now there’s nothing left for me to share
