DECEIT
If things revealed were not revealed at all,
None from such revelations would be scathed,
For there is no pain if one cannot recall,
Thus one from the anguish suffered would be saved.
But what then is the consequence of this,
Forever the victim of another’s ill deceit,
Not knowing the truth behind each simple kiss,
Smiling with fondness with each false repeat.
Would time deny the truth and frame the lie,
Or yet would truth eventually prevail,
That one is shocked the other asking why,
As all is revealed in sordid foul detail.
Better the truth I think, but yet the lie
Might well deserve a better way to die.
