CAPITAL PUNISHMENT
~ 1 ~
Let me kill him who murders
Any one of my kin.
Let me be responsible
For executing him,
Else put him in confinement
To live another day
For you who claim my judgment
To have it your own way.
Because if I choose sweet vengeance
And kill the murdering swine,
‘Tis you who then will judge me
For the same hideous crime…
For yours is the right to murder,
But it is not a right of mine.
~ 2 ~
You make everyone responsible
For the people that you kill.
You commit, for them, foul murder
Though it may not be their will.
You deny them their own judgment
And seldom publish facts
As you use their hard earned money
To pay for such foul acts.
And because it’s not made public,
That the killings folk don’t see,
Most know not who is murdered
In the great lands of the free…
Where people with the influence
Can get rid of folk who don’t agree.
