BELIEF

Belief is a vague and empty word
For it means not no or yes;
Hearing things that are not heard,
Blessing who we cannot bless.
Yet it can serve to strengthen some,
Without confidence in themselves,
Who need a place where they can run,
As true belief compels.
It signifies a lack of hope,
and acceptance of perpetual sin,
That we as people cannot cope,
Unless we believe in Him.
But in this there’s an equal vote
That neither side can win.
