ANNA

~ 1 ~

Who then are you? Do you really know?
I note that all you do is carefully planned
Your life is fashioned like a written show
Then acted out; a glove to fit a hand.
You laugh when you should laugh and cry
When you should weep and never smile
Though ‘tis done without a tear in your eye
But that is done according to a style.
A doctrine that disguises what you are,
For who you really are has not seen light,
A carved and shaped religious little star
Dull because it’s always shining bright
Despite my pain I would never choose your way
For you are right in everything you say

~ 2 ~

Being right means that you’re never wrong
For who is right or wrong, can one say?
‘Tis on the left foot that the right shoe belongs
The one that’s left has the right to stay
They tried to make me much the same as you
Right turn left turn, right wheel stand up straight
And though I did all those things you do
I left it all behind me at the gate
Teachers never left like students from their school
All their learning comes from the books we write
Then in haste they treat us like we’re fools
Quote back our words with authoritative delight
One who savours all that the priest repeats
Is surely just a Robot that one meets
