HE

He who is led into deep water will drown
For he will struggle under the weight of his crown;
And he who stays in the shallows is wise
Because his crown does not cover his eyes.
He who looks for reason is true,
While the fool will vengeance pursue,
Determined to establish his will
Where his efforts no value fulfil.
Better it is to know that a friend
Leads you not to a disappointing end;
For what is oft perceived as a spear
Is a quiver to harness your fear.
For 'tis one thing to believe you are right,
Another to discover things missed in the night.
