ASK NOT
Ask not the creator to renew his plan,
We should apply it ourselves, if we can,
For what is absent is not lost to us,
Ask not of him in whom we trust.
What the creator has given still exists,
We must find it in our hearts to fix,
For the master of souls preserves the truth,
Though it flies away to become aloof.
Ask not for that which is our crusade,
To seek and restore, lest our cultures fade.
For the Creator built in our souls the will
To please him by what we can fulfil.
Our destiny is not gratified by what we ask,
But measured by the deeds of our accomplished task.
