WAR AND THE WARRIOR
Despite its horror and its pain,
War is a powerful joy;
The adrenalin pumps and doth claim,
The man is yet a boy!
The thrill exceeds all rival tests,
The excitement is supreme!
It carries one o’er vibrant crests,
Where few have ever been.
Most soldiers fear to make it known,
The thrill they found in war,
For they must one day go back home,
And reveal not what they saw.
For war lives in a soldier’s bones,
And in his very core!
