The Earth was cleansed of Adam’s stock
For Noah to father life.
The flood had caused this by its shock
Cut cleanly as a knife.
But Adam’s sins were not destroyed;
They lived in Noah’s Ark.
Across the world to be deployed
Like trees with poisoned bark.
The Lord discarded the unity of man;
Cast them to the Earth’s far lands
Where the misunderstandings of language began
With the wringing of hostile hands.
From this, in man, grew the seeds of war
That the Lord knew long before.
