DUTY

IWVPA Double Tap Award for War Poetry: Awarded: May 13, 2007
Awarded: Awarded: May 13, 2007
Let us not blame! We made our choice,
We listened to the persuasive Voice,
That mesmerized; we lost our way,
That now we suffer still today.
We donned our battle clothes with pride,
Regardless of those folk who lied,
For soldiers pledge that they will go,
Where they are sent to fight a foe.
We did not ask and were not told,
Though we were then not very old,
Expendable; we knew we were,
We called them names but called them Sir,
For duty was the unwritten law,
That saw us all march off to war.
