A SUNBURNED COUNTRY

I miss this sunburned country
With it's ground of red
A place where the sun never goes to bed
It's wide blue skies and rolling oceans
It's vast lands and silver sands
Those bodies all suntanned
I miss the arid deserts
With camels passing by
The laughing kookaburra in the sky
The kangaroo and the koala
With joey's in their pouch
Playing in the centre of life's couch
It is the place of the midnight sun
Where beauty is never done
And it simplicity is such fun
The Aussie mounts and rock
Oft come as quite a shock
Its beauty is one we cannot knock
It has barren lands and silver sands
All diverse and in God's hands
I love this sunburned country
And no matter how far I roam
I shall still call my Australia home
