Author’s Note: M'lady fair, when you run off to Arizona, where the mountains meet the plains where the dusty roads run under the burnin' blood within my veins... stop by and visit me in Idaho, where we have all those things... I'll even take you on an ocean kayaking trip down one of our rivers... I'm leaving in a few hours for a trip down the Bear River... hey, c'mon along... We'll make room.

ARIZONA'S CALLING ME
(A Response)

The waters of the Bear run deep and cold
Bubbbling with song over hearts free and bold
Rushing o'er rock and rill from mountain snow melt
In harmony with nature, spirit gods of the forest felt...

We surprise sleekly darting deer cavorting mid willow banks
Join as one with their beauteous tawny ranks
Thriling the soul as we run Bear River silent
Passing majestic bald eagles nesting magnificent.

Herons and Osprey hunt splashing silver spray for a supper of fish
Nature sublime weaves with sunlight's thread in the golden wish
Canadian geese in concert add to the musical score scolding honks
Lapping sparkling waters churn by chattering chipmunks.

I'm mesmerized by sky and water of deepest blues
The river embraced by rich verdant hues
Surprising huge fish in the Indian hot springs
That jump our boat with seeming wings...

It thrills the heart, this glory energizing the soul
Making troubled man more attuned with the symphonic whole
Touching for one shining moment the goodness of the earth
Celebrating so healing, in the rapture of its birth...
