Knowing a child smiles
or the giving of a hand
even a soft kitten's wiles
or someone to understand.
Finding a good book to read
feelings of an ocean breeze
helping another to feed
watching a pond to freeze.
Seeing ducks fly overhead
watching squirrels at play
not having bills to dread
hearing when my son's pray.
Enjoying the laughter of love
carrying and infant to bed
hearing sacred music above
the sacrament for the bread.
The emotions felt in embrace
the wonder of a flower petal
the challenge within a race
seeing heather in a meadow.
Of forever likes to define
but the like I love so much
comes from tenderness divine
when I feel my Father's touch.
