BUGS WON IN THE WOODS TONIGHT

Beating a retreat
eaten almost alive
served as the treat
fighting to survive.

Bugs flying low
bats stayed at home
little bellies full
just me all alone.

Formations ordered
attacks repeatedly
I was cornered
sacked unheedingly.

Bugs won tonight
in the woods bare
not even a good fight
morsels to declare!

Through the repellent
through the clothing
bugs came and went
skin and blood holding.

Beating a retreat
to the truck for cover
served as the treat
Chuck they did discover.
