A GOOD FRIEND

Passing suddenly
can't remember
did we say, 'hello'
or even say, 'goodbye'
seems I wonder
not expecting this
yet knowing going
more things to do
crossing the veil
preparing the way
as a good friend
for each of us today;

But how to really know
such conflict in thought
the Savior was alive
forty days all to see
flesh and bone touched
telling us this could be
if we're but worthy
to follow Him in truth
as a good friend
crossing the veil
preparing the way
for each of us today.

(Epilogue:

It's always quiet
to say goodbye
even one last time
but we remember
and thus never gone
is a good friend
on this or any day.)
