Consuming the distance
shadowing ashes in air
flickering is this dance
all the woodlands share.

Within the child’s eyes
tears express his fear
feelings asking whys
this holocaust so near.

Burning fire explodes
the horizon a blaze
as this today enfolds
leaving dusk’s haze.
