DRAPES THE FLAG
Forlornly wisping
a drizzle slow
rain tears misting
feelings low.
Our children there
lined beside
ever so fair
now to confide.
Giving their all
which was asked
hearing the call
soldiers tasked.
No longer here
yet in memory
we feel them near
in our history.
How many more
will the field claim
in terror's door
freedom's blame?
Can we understand
what causes this
war's awful demand
when abuse is amiss?
Drapes a flag seen
of many nations found
honoring a tears gleam
taps to now sound.
