THE TRUTH ABOUT LIES
Lies are told to get us out of trouble.
Lies are told to avoid hurting another's feelings.
Whether it be good intentions, or bad ones,
Telling lies is wrong.
Every time I figure out that I have been told a lie,
It hurts me more and more by the minute, sometimes I even cry.
I can't tell what hurts more,
Telling the truth in a bad situation, or receiving a lie,
But I can tell you this.
It is a callow person who can't tell the truth,
And instead tells a lie all full of empty ruth.
It is meaningless and terribly disheartening.
Telling the truth can only heat your friends and cool your enemies.
Telling a lie will only lead to an eventual despair - that I can tell.
Not just for the recipient, but for the liar as well.
