POW/MIA Remembrance Day: 3rd Friday in September - Annually
American POW/MIA Remembrance Day
3rd Friday in September Annually

GOD BLESS THE POWS – THEY ARE THE REAL HEROES

It was dark, it was cold, no wait, put that on hold
It was nice, it was warm, and I was in my protective fold

The pain was real but I wasn't there
I was somewhere else, in the great nowhere

I was tortured and beaten and threatened to be killed
I thought of home and the hunting I did in them thar hills

I was spit upon and kicked and dragged through the streets
I thought of you all, Oh that was sweet

I was starved with no food or water for weeks at a time
Only to drift off into a mystic state of mine

When I awoke and I came to my senses
I knew I had them beat despite all their offences

I carried on in the face of adversity
They can't break me with their barbarity

One day I will be free and live in peace
And this will become a conversation piece

God Bless the POWs, they are the real heroes
