REST NOT UPON YOUR LAURELS
Rest not upon your laurels
All ye strong men, brave and true,
Ye must stand and fight for freedom,
For the weak depend on you.
When mans' liberty's in trouble,
And the tyrants gather 'round,
You're the first to grab your weapons
To prove your will is sound.
You're the first ones into combat,
And the last ones to give in;
Your only thought in battle
Is to either die or win.
There are those who stand among us,
Who with complacency or fear,
Would give into tyrants' pressure,
And lose the freedoms we hold dear.
Though the price of freedom's high,
You're prepared to pay the cost,
You would rather give your life
Than for freedom to be lost.
So, rest not upon your laurels,
But stand proud in freedoms' fight;
For we know that Good will conquer,
And freedoms' war is always right.
