THAT’S HOW A REAL SOLDIER SURVIVES
We survive we come home and reflect and think what did I do?
Hey I remember my bros I left there and it starts… the tears or what could have been with you and not now…
So you’re best I be not in a relationship unless they are strong and understand… ‘cause I do not understand… myself
For I am the walking wounded surviving in this Illusion of life as we think we know it
Truly ignored and not wanted until once a year Remembrance Day then dusted up and used as a prop for the media and politicians and pat on the head like a puppy… good boy now leave your not needed any more
But we did not forget you the politicians, or our country when we were needed
Think of those who served and have come back
Some have mental and physical injuries
If we are lucky we might get a pittance of a pension, but the war continues at home to even get that
A soldier survives by his wits and training in the field from what he was taught
On Civvie Street a soldier that is disabled has to survive in a different way
But this soldier has a family to feed and too much pride to live in a shelter or use a food bank
This should not be because we served with honour and all we ask is respect and honour our service
And not to just survive. We want to live and embrace life again!!
