Gary Grigg CD
Born into a military environment on November 12, 1955 in Comox, B.C., Canada, Gary’s grandfather, Joseph Ricard, served in the First World War and was wounded at Vimy, and his father served in the Second World War and he too was wounded.
Gary first joined the Reserves with the Royal Westminster Regiment in 1972. One year later he joined the regular force, the 3rd battalion Royal Canadian Regiment. On February 16, 1977, while in Cyprus at Op Stavros, he was wounded but was not aware the affect this would have on him until years later. In November 2008 he received his Wound Stripe for being wounded while under hostile fire.
Now living in Maple Ridge, B.C., Canada, Gary is a Veterans Advocate. He decided to get into theatre and acting, and has worked on several movies, on TV and live-stage. This has helped him in dealing with his PTSD.
Retired from the Canadian forces with Item 3b Honourable Medical Release, Gary’s decorations include the Special Service Medal (NATO Bar), Canadian Peace Keeping Service Medal, United Nations Forces Cyprus Medal (2), Canadian Forces Decoration, and Wound Stripe.
