Most folks are afraid of them –
Those nighttime images,
so real, so close,
that haunt your sleeping mind.
Thoughts so terrifying,
images so unsettling,
visions so steeped with dread –
That you suddenly awaken
With darkness still preserving its grasp;
Drenched in icy sweat,
Shivering from mind numbing fear,
Too terrified to move,
Until your confused, panicked mind
deciphers reality from illusion.

Yes, most folks are afraid of nightmares.

But not me…
