There is for me no greater culinary treat,
than one of my very favorite meals to eat,
A steaming plate of bubble and squeak.
A dish so mighty and yet so darn meek

It’s left over cabbage and some left over mash,
Placed on the old hob, and cooked up in a flash.
Fried up in pork drippings for that brilliant taste
Yes, in our house you see – nowt goes to waste

Served with pickles a plenty adorning the plate
Branston ‘n’ piccalilli – now don’t that sound great?
Served up with leftovers of our Sunday Pork roast,
Yes bubble and squeak is the dish I love most…
