AS TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY…

As today is my birthday –
I thought it appropriate to reflect,
on the year I’ve just experienced…
for it has been one of my best.

My son is growing up fast,
And I am so proud of Jonathan,
He has transformed all too quickly
from a naive boy to young man.

My beloved better half and I,
have been together for another year!
Each day we become closer still,
knowing the magic will ne’r disappear.

My story of being a published writer
is becoming less fiction and more fact.
All those years of tap-tapping the keys
seems to be finally having an impact.

Yes today is my birthday –
The sun is shining – my work is done.
Time to go to the nearby creek now
And take my two dogs for a good run.

“Life can be grand – never take the good times for granted.
Tell your loved ones how much they mean to you,
Work a little everyday towards your dreams…
And try to indulge in the simple pleasures of life,
for they invariably are the most satisfying.”
