1968
It was 1968
I do recall
The words I want to say
Are in this song
Mother’s don’t cry
They died so brave
They gave you a flag
Next to his grave
But you wanted more
Why did we go to war?
‘Cause I heard them cry
And I saw them die
And I ask you why
And nobody knows
Some of us returned
To face the worst
They laughed and spit at me
And you know that hurt
‘Cause I heard them die
And I saw them die
And I ask you why
And nobody knows
To tell you all the rest
Would take so long
But I can tell you this
It was so wrong
Cause in my dreams I cry
And I see them die
And I ask you why?
‘Cause I heard them die
And I saw them die
And I ask you why
And nobody knows
