PREDATORY DANCE

Translucent crystals morning glory
wings like gold against the sky
calling out upon the wind
spiraling upward beauty flies

High above the earth below
with silent speed these two
consumed with naught but provenance,
they rise into the blue

From snow capped mountains cold winds shiver
and their eyes with purpose do meet
and as quickly as time the two become one
drawn by their mutual heat

No wings seek the current
and together they fall
no mind paid to presence or sound
locked in embrace their legion together
they tumble as one towards the ground

Falling, falling, hurtling downward
no fear as one creature they dive
then spiraling upward the two take up flight
ensuring their species survives

Soundlessly soaring aloft in the sky
again they are joined as they plummet
seeking no prey, engaged in their play
they again spread their wings towards the summit

Then a screech upon the wind perchance
these creatures circle endlessly
above the forest greenery
modest in its finery;
a predatory dance
