RIBBONS
I see yellow ribbons everywhere
Where once I encountered jeers,
Muddled language of how you care
I ‘m deafened by the years.
Demonstrations of all this pride
Symbolic Red, White and Blue
Treachery colors cannot hide
The dark duplicity veiled in you.
There’s no foreign war to wage
Humanity shouts a single decree
Another turn in history’s page
Souls lament: their years be free
Imprudent men, will revise the past
A legacy – of regret and sorrow
If freedom, is to last
Where will your sons stand tomorrow?
I see yellow ribbons everywhere
Where once I encountered jeers,
Don’t tell me how much you care
I’m blinded by the tears.
