WILL THERE BE PEACE?

ALTWhy does the human race, destroy their fellow man,
change a way of life, take control of someone’s land.
This is the way it’s been, all throughout the ages,
written in detailed reference on many historical pages.

All religions preached, of loving one and other,
join with them or die, standing by your brother.
For it was those early years, also sometimes later,
religious wars were fought, human life did not matter.

History has recorded not only religion was the seed,
man is truly guilty of lust, jealousy and greed.
Why must one be better than his neighbour:
Show the world your might, rattle the deathly sabre.

Leaders of world nations for one reason or another,
send our young off to war, leave behind a grieving mother.
They say it is for peace, to free our fellow man,
then why do thousands die following their leaders plan.

Wouldn’t it be great, to see peace in our lifetime,
I dream we all will live as one, maybe write some rhyme
When the noise of guns and bombs, finally do cease
only then my friends — we will hear the sounds of Peace.

Author’s Note: This is one of the poems that are included in my newly released book titled ‘Out of Australia.’

For a number of years I had an American publisher asking for me to publish with them, I finally relented and we put together this compilation of 100 of my poems: the book is a journey the reader takes with me from my very early poems from late 2006 up to late 2009, also included are some wonderful ‘Aussie’ photos.

My new book has been published and printed in America: there are 2 versions – colour and black & white: both are available from Amazon.com
