VOICES IN THE WILDERNESS
Speak for us,
for we cannot speak.
You must do for us
what we can no longer do,
for once we thought we saw peace,
but it was only a mirage
in the desert.
Do not hinder us by the
fact that we are dead,
and you are still living.
The fuehrer had his secretary,
but we had no one to speak.
We want you to take a message.
You shall take dictation for us.
Bush has Tony Blair as an ally.
We want an ally too, so we have
chosen you, the living, to do our
bidding for us, that is our due!
You can’t fight the dead, now can you?
We no longer change, but you can
change for us, as long as you are
living, know that peace is life,
and life is worth the giving.
And how is it that we have a lot
more to say than you who are alive?
Though we are dead, it is our pain
that lives, and you, who cannot thrive.
God is not only in the living,
but residing in the grave,
He lies by us, once crucified;
He did awake and rise for us.
You are blessed to deliver our message.
Lift your eyes to God,
and He will see us.
Open your ears to us,
and He will hear us.
Begin to speak, and He
will surely know us.
We will be right here,
viewed and seen by the
living who watch television,
making it an irreverent pastime.
I tell you now, they should be
throwing up, but instead,
they dine with us dying like we
are violins playing soothing
music.
Do you really know what’s
happening to your country?
If you are silent,
then so are we.
All things in darkness
shall be brought out into the light.
All faces in the night shall
be revealed in the day of right.
Do not say farewell to us
when you are traveling down
a road that darkens in dismay.
This is the secret to our partnership;
we will walk with you in your footsteps.
Only you can carry us, for we are your
sisters and your brothers.
We are your neighbors.
Don’t remain silent for your silence
and omission will judge you.
Don’t you hear God’s footsteps?
He’s coming up the stairs to judge you.
Speak for us, for we are voices in the wilderness.
We are here because there was no more
room for those who were human.
Know that you shall make the dead men speak.
