REALISATION
time to move on
this much I know for sure
but I haven't a clue
of where it is I should go
not knowing where,
or what I have been
there can be no going back
if you do not even know where you are today

wasted years and wasted life
that brought me naught at all
I have a pretty penny
and skills to make it grow
but no wife or family
and no place to call my home

for far too many years
my ship sailed ramming speed
outwards, onwards always
with others at the helm
now I find myself adrift
and must find my way back home

I fear I some day will
look back upon my life
and feel no sense of pride
for the paths that I have chosen
were not mine at all
someone else's life I've lived
aiming for someone else's goal
