A RENDEZVOUS OF CHANCE
Sometimes at night
- when in places I don't know
I seek the stillness of a noisy bar
- and a glass of ice cold draft
Through the barrage of sounds of the drunken crowd
- I find my solitude, peace to hear my soul
With each glass my hand is more still
- each sip the world more gone
I enjoy the time spend like this,
- the uncommon peace I find
To my self I keep, and not to others speak
- or else I lose my peace
But her looks,
- they caught my eye,
Her soft voice
- broke through my power shield
Her fingers smelled of apples
- as her hand touched my chin
I could feel my eyes,
- with water they were filled
When her word and touch reached in,
- and brought me back to the living world
Like age old friends we spoke
- of love and life and friends of now and then
I touched the softness of her skin
- and with my fingers felt her hair
Into the night we sat in silence
- intimate, close and private
Baring souls to one another
- sharing words and silence both
Amid a thousand noisy strangers
- of whom we saw not one
Her touch, her smell, her lips
- sent a thousand volts trough me
She smiled and laughed and loved
- when of friends and sun I spoke
And cried and gripped my hand
- when my words were grey from rain
Memories of comforting embrace
- her warm body close to mine
Will help me through the winter
- help guide me forth too spring
She was a chance encounter
- she owns my lasting love
If I find the strength and courage
- to heal my aching wounds
I hope she will be waiting
- that she may still be mine
