A TEMPORARY RUNNING AWAY
Driving down a 2 lane highway
No set destination in mind to take
Not so sure of what brought me here
Wondering why my life feels empty
Repeatedly playing a song from
The soundtrack of Marie Antoinette
Puzzled mind of yesterdays gone by
Aimlessly heading nowhere north
Watching over to the Cimarron River
No sign of boats floating down it
Thinking of journeys that could be
Rowed in good and bad of endless seas
Are my eyes cloudy like those in the sky?
Breaking the dams of my eyelids
Come the rushing torrents of mine tears
Not really caring who might see them
Coming into small towns not known
Slowing down to see the structures 'n
Watching people living lives so similar
Knowing time never stops and life goes on
Turning off the a/c, opening the windows
Feeling the warm breezes from the sun
Viewing the country side and scenery
Noticing the tenseness held tightly subside
Taking a long drive into places unknown
Makes the troubled soul not so sad anymore
No longer are feelings of abandonment
Ready to quit running and face life again
