‘TWAS FIFTEEN YEARS AGO

Brothers Aaron Coverdale, 5, and Elijah Coverdale, 2
Killed in the Oklahoma City BombingFifteen years ago today
When things started normal
At two minutes after nine
The day entered the abnormal
Explosions from downtown
Buildings rocked in its area
Black smoke arose rapidly
Confusion erupted hysteria
Screams shot out into the sky
Emergency crew arise quickly
Babies, children, adults affected
While trauma came in rapidly
Awww such terrorist action
From one of our own people
His hate for another incident
Was the motivating principle
One hundred sixty-eight fell
Innocence was interrupted
Death ruled their life on earth
Now asleep; till resurrected
Such souls will ne’er be forgot
Not even the two little Coverdales
Two and four year old boys
Were cousins to my own kids
Time marches on; anniversaries too
Memorials in honor of the fallen
Traumas are remembered too well
As we continue on the road of healin’
